"To those whom my life may touch

in slight measure,

May I give graciously

Of what is mine."

VP Philanthropy

Amanda Malawski

"Delta Zeta’s philanthropy is the Starkey Hearing foundation and The Painted Turtle Camp. Through out the year our chapter hosts several events to raise money for both organizations. In the past we have hosted a Rose Gala, Scoops for Starkey and Paint a DZ.  this year with COVID-19 events will look a bit different, but as a chapter we are working to create meaningful events where we can continue to support our philanthropy. Further, this year we are working to learn specifically more about Deaf Culture to enhance our understanding of the organizations we serve.

Being in this position has shown me that at every heart of a Delta Zeta is a passion for service and dedication to our philanthropy. In my position I have the pleasure of offering various community service opportunities to the chapter and planning various events to benefit our philanthropy. This year I am looking to work with other DZ chapters to host virtual event for our philanthropy."

Delta Zeta is proud to partner with the Painted Turtle Camp, a place where children with serious medical conditions can be just kids. Children can sing, dance, grown, learn, and connect in a safe and inclusive environment with other children of shared experiences. Located near Lake Elizabeth in Lake Hughes, California, children have been able to attend free of charge since 2004. This past year, Gamma Omicron has hosted Paint a DZ to support the Painted Turtle Camp.

Our national philanthropy is speech and hearing. To benefit this cause, we have partnered with the Painted Turtle Camp and Starkey Hearing foundation. This foundation gives the gift of hearing to people in need all over the world. Founded by William F. Austin, the Starkey Hearing Foundation has given the gift of hearing through hearing aids in more than 100 countries. Gamma Omicron annually hosts Nacho Night to support this foundation and this past year has hosted Scoops for Starkey as well.

This past October, we hosted our yearly Nacho Night to raise money to support the Starkey Hearing foundation. Those who attend can buy and eat delicious nachos, listen to music, learn about our philanthropy and connect with other Delta Zetas at the chapter house from 10PM to 1AM!

For the first time ever, Gamma Omicron hosted Paint a DZ this past September! All Delta Zetas wore white shirts and attendees could buy paint filled balloons to throw at our sisters! It was a fun and colorful time at the Turtle Pond on the San Diego State University campus. The money raised was to support the Painted Turtle Camp.

In March, Gamma Omicron also hosted Scoops for Starkey, a new philanthropy event! Members of the Greek community, students of San Diego State University, and residents of San Diego that attended the event at the chapter house were able to buy ice cream with various toppings and sauces and learn more about our philanthropy and the Starkey Hearing Foundation. The money raised was to support this foundation.

This November, our Dazzling Diamonds Gala raised money for our philanthropy and honored some of our beautiful sisters! Gamma Omicron gathered with our family members at the SDSU Alumni Center to celebrate our seniors and some of our individual sisters' accomplishments, such as The Order of the Rose Award.
